Education and Training

Women’s Community Education

SWAN is a community based women’s organisation catering for women in the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown area. We work with women to support them to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.

We do this by providing information and liaising with relevant supportive organisations and running courses that are both educational and recreational.

Women’s Community Education aspires to being intercultural, holistic and diverse. It will give women the experience of affirmation, recognition, dignity and leadership through their learning process.

  • women-centered and women-led – defined by the experience, the needs and wants of the participants to foster self-esteem and confidence
  • inclusive of all women – barriers to inequality and injustices have to be addressed and removed
  • a lifelong learning process that empowers women to find their own voice

Quality and Standards

SWAN is a Quality Assured FETAC Education Centre. We also quality assure our work through the Women’s Community Education Assurance Framework (QAF) of AONTAS, the national body for adult education in Ireland.
