Community Development Work
Community Development Work is all about women’s creative engagement with issues that shape their live.
With this initiative we want to encourage and support women to become involved by joining a women’s group in their area. This is an opportunity to meet other women to talk to and also to have fun with.
Different courses will be organized by SWAN from Art and Salsa to Women and Decision Making. Some courses are also FETAC accredited.
Together with the other Community Development Project Coordinators we will be helping local women of all ages to set up a new group or course.
To join look at our programme and/or call Daniela in SWAN 01 282 5932 or the local Community Development Coordinator of your area.
SWAN - Community work and feminism
Community Development Work seeks to challenge inequitable power relationship within society. This involves developing strategies and initiatives that confront prejudice and discrimination and gender.
By enabling women in the community to work together to influence change and to exert control over the social, political and economic issues that affect their lives, for us community development work is also about promoting and strengthening women’s rights and interests.
